The Friendship Plant

Distance had increased between them
Not the bodies but their souls.
Now they became utter strangers;
Wandering with empty wholes.

One heard the other;
Only to retort, not to listen
Never showed it on their faces,
But regretted their decision.

The golden days they had together
Full of sunshine and joy;
Seemed to be overlapped by
Emotions layered and coy.

She did feel absurd without him,
On the other side she was missed.
For days and months passed by,
They only reminisced.

Blamed the other for the loss
Both experienced in their case.
No sooner did he realize,
He tried to mend his ways.

But then the egos intervened,
And broke the two apart.
No apologies were accepted,
Did not give a new start.

But destiny chose not to make
A cruel jape of their lives,
Recalled all the bees it had
Swarmed out of their evil hives.

She found her way back to square one,
Where it all had once begun,
Round and round the ideas
Seemed to have been spun.

At last pardons she did ask,
And he happily did grant.
At last blossomed the buds
On their friendship plant.
