Never-ending Serenade

Once I asked God, "What is a song?"
He said feel it and tap your feet along.
There played a melody as the wind blew
and I danced feeling as afreshed as dew.

Not a breath caught between my movements,
But to my heart reached all the blooming scents.
It was as if I were a ballerina,
With a soulful audience performing an arena.

The atmosphere of the night was so ecstatic,
The state of my mind pretty enigmatic.
Under the narrowing shadow of the moon crescent
Away all grooved, deeply incandescent.

On and on it went for hours,
With endless applause from beds of flowers!
When did the time move; had no notion,
I was lost following my devotion...

Dusk to dawn for all six seasons,
I fantasised for all different reasons.
Waiting for the evening to brush me off again,
Dancing and dancing till of sweat I rain.
