Just 1 year

All of academics becoming hard
Its like walking on glass shards!
No saliva in my mouth & a dry cleft
Everyone is explaining how 1 year is left.

All fiction closed and science is open
All brains deep fried or baking in the oven.
Pens in the hand completing notes
Answers stored in the memory, repeated within the throat.

The last date of submission is tomorrow
Teachers don't have enough ink, my pens they borrow
Submitted it finally by working all night,
Teacher is absent; that's not right!

Finally I get 2 weeks for the examination,
I can't even listen to songs at my favourite radio station!
My parents know that I'm not a prodigy.
So, to sharpen my mind, I eat more & more veggies.

Grandpa comes and says "you're working so well"
Little does he know its a micro-hell.
Then off, I ask Granny,"won't there be any rest?"
The usual reply: Darling only one year is left.

Here comes the exam slamming all the way,
For a whole week at my house enjoys it's stay.
Maths,English, Hindi follow out in a row
Laughing at me when I raise my brows

Slowly it comes to a pretty countdown
Less than 4 days to have back my crown.
I am very nervous but making merry too.
The results will tell if I can leave this zoo.

The D-Day arises and we drive off to school,
Smart enough not to make myself a fool.
An A-2 grade I scored, the rest of the marks stolen in a theft!
But still the phrase is only 1 year is left
